Kevin Hickerson presented with ESGR’s Patriot Award
CUD is proud to announce that Kevin Hickerson was awarded with ESGR’s Patriot Award. ESGR stands Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve. The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support citizen warriors through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families, and granting leaves of absence if needed.
Kevin is the supervisor for Tyler Allen in the Meter Reading department here at CUD. Tyler is one of more than 120 Soldiers from the National Guard’s 230th Signal Company, based in Nashville, that left December 4th on the first leg of a one-year deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Tyler’s nomination of Kevin was accompanied with the this letter.
Please send the award to my State ESGR Field Committee to formally present to my supervisor.
My supervisor has gone above and beyond to make sure I have no issues getting time off for training. I started my interview process by saying that I do have an upcoming deployment. While most employers would just move to the next applicant, my now supervisor and HR staff gave me the opportunity to take the position. Since then I have had to take time off for multiple Annual Training periods along with many three and four day drills. Without hesitation, they allow me the time off. I have come to my supervisor many times with issues that have come up last minute that needed me to be gone with my unit. He didn’t even think about it, just said thats fine. I have never felt like I couldn’t contact my supervisor or others about needing time off. I love my job, but more importantly, I love my employer! Not only has it been my supervisor, but many others have been supportive in every endeavor. They say the people you work around makes your job hell or heaven. I can honestly say, I am truly blessed to be employed by Consolidated Utility District.
