Our Public Comment Policy
Our Board of Commissioners conducts all meetings in compliance with the Tennessee open meetings law. Tennessee law requires that meetings be open for public observation, and that the Board reserve a period of time at each meeting for public comments. If you would like to comment, please fill out the Public Comment form.
• Our policy allows members of the public to speak for up to three (3) minutes to share their ideas and concerns with the Board. It is not intended to be a time for discussion between the Commissioners and the speaker or a time for obtaining either answers to questions raised or responses to requests made for information or action.
• An agenda will be made available to the public at least 48 hours prior to each Board meeting and posted in the lobby and on our website. If a member of the public wishes to speak to the Board, he/she must sign up to speak by 10:00 am on the day of the Board meeting using the link provided on our website.
• No more than thirty (30) minutes may be devoted, in total, to speakers during the public comments period. If there are more than ten (10) speakers, the 30-minute time period shall be divided by the number of speakers. Speakers shall not share or yield their time to another to consolidate or expand the maximum time of any speaker. The thirty (30) minute time may be extended by majority vote of the Board.
